Our Story

Sovika Group was formed in 1979 by Mr. Sohan Mehta, the Chairman and Managing Director of the Group. After the successful establishment of its flagship company, Sovika Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. - the largest distributor of Industrial chemicals in Western India,  the Group scouted for opportunities outside its core competency area.


Today the Group stands as a multi business conglomerate that has systematically and successfully ventured into diverse areas such as Chemicals, Aviation, Hospitality and Lifestyle. The growth and expansion of this multi-conglomerate within such a short span of time can be attributed to the Group’s persevered focus on qualities like ethical business practices, dedicated customer service and stakeholder value maximization.


A humble start marked the beginning of an eventful and flourishing journey that the Group continues to make:

In the early 1990s, a lucrative opportunity in the aviation field presented itself, and the Sovika Group ventured to launch the very first of its kind business in Crew Leasing.

This establishment was targeted towards large charter operators who leased aircrafts on long term lease to Air India and wished to economize their operations by appointing Indian cabin crew.
The mid 1990s saw the group venture out in the GSA Business and was appointed as the GSA for the erstwhile Air Sahara (now Jet Lite) for Western India, followed by Qatar Airways for Gujarat.

The Group has been conducting Annual Hajj Charters regularly on behalf of the Government of India and Central Hajj Committee.
The group established a base in Sierra Leone (West Africa) and operated full charter services on behalf of Sierra National Airways operating between West Africa and Europe and also within the West African region.

The year 2005 saw the Group lease 3 aircrafts from FlyGlobespan of Scotland & CSA Airline of Czech Republic to Air India on a long term wet lease. Following the operational success, AI extended the contract twice by a year each.
The Group also ventured in the Ground Handling business in mid-2000 and established two successful Joint Ventures - One with National Aviation Services (NAS) of Kuwait to manage complete Ground Handling activities for domestic carriers across various Indian airports.

The second was formed to manage CSI Airport in Mumbai amongst the group, NAS & Celebi, Ground Handling of Turkey
The group proceeded into Chemical Manufacturing and acquired a ready unit in New Bombay to facilitate the procurement of different industrial chemicals and undertake job work for several other larger manufacturers.

In 2009, the group acquired another unit near Ankleshwar in Gujarat. This unit manufactures chemicals like Benzene Alcohol and Benzene Chloride among others.
In 2010, the group started its 1st Lifestyle Spa called HottHeadz in upmarket Worli (Central Mumbai).

The roaring success of the outlet amongst the affluent class has paved the way for the Group to plan the opening of multiple outlets spanning the length of Mumbai.
In 2012, Sovika Aviation signed  a Joint Venture with Nexus Flight Operations of Saudi Arabia for the Indian sub-continent to offer Flight Operations and Trip Support Services to private jets.

Sovika Aviation was also appointed as Cargo GAS for Go Airline(I) Ltd. on an PAN India basis.
In 2014, Sovika Aviation was appointed as Cargo GSA for Air Costa for their cargo expansion plans to handle cargo operations across India. Scope of services provided include Cargo Sales and Operations Management, Ramp Handling and provision of Customer Care services.

In December 2014, Sovika Aviation was appointed as Cargo GSA for TATA SIA Airlines’ project- Vistara across India.
